The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has launched an environmental contest in honor of Earth Month. The Win for Earth contest aims to celebrate the everyday actions people can take to help the earth and lead more sustainable lives.
To enter the contest, people need to take a snapshot or video documenting their eco-friendly action. From there, post the content to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #WinForEarth.
“We face big challenges in conserving our planet, and each of us has an important role to play,” said Mark Tercek, CEO of The Nature Conservancy. “This Earth Month, The Nature Conservancy is excited to partner with Discovery and Visa on the Win for Earth contest to highlight the actions we can all take to make our world a better place.”
Action Ideas:
- Opt out of driving to work, choose to carpool or bike instead.
- Say no to plastic or styrofoam, choose to reuse and bring your reusable coffee mug to your favorite coffee shop.
- Embrace your inner tree hugger. Plant a tree…or hug one!
- Cook up a vegetarian or vegan meal for Meatless Monday…or any other day of the week.
In partnership with TNC, Discovery and Visa will be promoting the contest and providing prizes for the lucky winners. Discovery is also contributing $10,000 to plant 10,000 trees in honor of the first 10,000 entries to the contest.
“Discovery deeply cares for the world we live in and is excited to partner with The Nature Conservancy during Earth Month and celebrate the true beauty of our planet,” said Nancy Daniels, Chief Brand O
The grand prize winner will have the opportunity to head to Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and see The Nature Conservancy’s work firsthand with the TNC Insider Experience for two. They will also receive a Discovery prize pack.
However, the grand prize isn’t the only opportunity to win. Additional awards will be given in the following categories:
- Coolest Commute
- Local Food Hero
- The Most Lovable Tree Hug
- Sustainable All-Star
The deadline to enter with the hashtag #WinForEarth is April 30th.
